The Martinez Brothers return in 2016 with an all star collaboration featuring fashion and house icon Miss Kittin. ‘Stuff in the Trunk’ is a classic Martinez Brothers dance floor demolisher, as infectious, acid-toned grooves and chirps rashly carry Miss Kittin’s brash vocal effort. It’s a track tailor-made for peak time, and sees the Martinez Brothers in fine form going into the Ibiza circuit.
‘Stuff in the Trunk’ and its 12 inch physical will officially release on the Bronx siblings’ very own Cuttin’ Headz imprint in early May. It marks the fourth release on the primarily vinyl label.
Steve and Chris will be playing a rare U.S festival set at EDC New York on May 14, and then will hit their usual array of European festivals and of course, Ibiza’s DC10. They’ve proved to be a force on the club circuit for years now, and are also now taking over the world of fashion as well. After a year producing and spinning for Riccardo Tisci and his Givenchy brand and collection, the boys worked with New Era to release a limited edition Cuttin’ Headz NE hat.
Thomas Gold brought his ON FIRE Tour to SpaceIBIZA NY on Friday, April 22, 2016
We sat down with the Berlin-based DJ and producer to chat about his forthcoming debut album + more, Check it out.
On a much awaited return to the nightlife of NYC, The
Martinez Brothers finally made their appearance at Flash Factory this past
weekend. The night kicked off with some
smooth vibes and an undeniably intoxicating groove that filled every crevice of
the room. Being that The Martinez
Brothers are a New York based duo, it is safe to say their fan base showed up
in full force as the venue was packed out by 1AM. With such a full house, no
matter what transpired, the night was bound to be a raging party.
The direction the music went throughout the night felt as
though they were playing it safe. The
entire set, although they were dancing and smiling on stage, seemed like the
artistic expression they possess was kept on a leash rather than being let to
run wild with the creatures of the nightlife.
To this we ask… Has fame suppressed the live creative flow? Or is
touring taking a toll? Despite this they
still managed to impress the crowd with some well known Martinez Brothers
originals as well as some transcendent ID tracks to keep the crowd
guessing.

The New York City event will take place at Ace Hotel New York on Saturday, February 27th.

Dial-Tones is an international event series that offers an exclusive preview of the Moogfest 2016 experience in select cities around the world. Curated by Moogfest, Dial-Tones celebrates the form and frequencies surrounding ambient, drone, and microtonal compositions, as well as the technology behind the art of synthesis.
In each city, Moogfest partners with a local organization to host the children’s workshop as well as Moogfest 2016 artists to curate the live performance portion. In its hometown of Durham, Moogfest partnered with artist Nick Sanborn of Made of Oak / Sylvan Esso and in Los Angeles with Nosaj Thing whose collective featured Shlohmo, Emily Kokal (Warpaint), DJ Dodger Stadium, Teebs & D Tiberio.

Patricia, Antenes, Via App, and Bookworms will first collaborate on an improvisational ambient piece, and then, over the course of an hour listeners will be guided through an evolving drone — an auditory ‘exquisite corpse’ if you will, which is being recorded for later release. Doors will be at 9:00 PM; performances begin at 09:30 PM.
11:00 PM: Dial-Tones After Party
Into the later hours we pick-up the pace with Via App and Patricia performing live, as Bookworms (L.I.E.S.) rounds out the party with a DJ set. We’re going to be dancing late, a cash bar curated by The Breslin Bar and Dining Room will be open, and the vibes will be great inside Liberty Hall at Ace Hotel New York.
FEATURED ARTIST: Patricia Patricia is the project of Chicago born and now NYC-based producer Max Ravitz. Max’s own sense of hardware based techno performance is part of a broader generation of artists making non-glossy, gritty, and unforgiving rhythms. The Patricia sound certainly has roots in acid and mid-western techno, but has a tinge of it’s own. It’s smokey, visceral, and keeps the body moving.
FEATURED ARTIST: Via App Dylan Scheer (Via App) is a producer and performing artist based in Queens. She sculpts and collages her synthesized sound with audio samples from a wide range of user-upload sites, field recordings, and popular culture to create a confused, dynamic narrative. Her work references an amalgam of club music throughout history, while refusing to adhere to any categorizable style.
FEATURED ARTIST: Antenes New York-based DJ, producer and electronics artist Antenes (Lori Napoleon) operates a laboratory of self-made sequencers and synthesizers using vintage telephone equipment built in the name of sonic and spatial exploration.

Flash
Factory, Manhattan’s modern music refuge, delivers a strong first
month’s worth of bookings to christen the recently finished venue.
Although last weekend’s opening night with The Martinez Brothers was
thwarted by snow, the venue will open this Friday 1/29 with legendary
Canadian DJ and producer Tiga, followed by house connoisseur DJ QU on
1/30, Hot Creations label head Jamie Jones on 2/5, and Eric Prydz’s
techno alias Cirez D on 2/13.
The
10,000 square foot Flash Factory is poised to deliver what Manhattan
has been missing for decades – a serious space for music that stepped
down a rabbit hole. The venue is unlike any other, steeped in the NYC
tradition of CBGBs and the Fillmore. In time when New York mega clubs
are closing down or moving to Brooklyn, “night-life impresarios Michael
Satsky and Brian Gefter hope to lure the techno underground back to
Manhattan using a new tool in their hospitality arsenal: populism” – The New York Times.
The
venue eschews LED panels and screens, instead opting for organic
architectural elements. “Its décor pulls from abandoned churches and 70s
disco boîtes, pairing stained glass windows and wooden crosses with
metallic wallpaper and laser-cut archways. A pristine white stone altar,
salvaged from an old church in the Bronx, is repurposed as the central
DJ deck.” – The Guardian.
Standing
in stark contrast to the electronic functionality of modern day joints,
Flash Factory is an homage to an era of vaudevillian eccentricity and
Victorian decadence. Whether you love punk, techno, or rock, Flash
Factory provides a proper venue for fans to connect with artists and
their music, creating a communal experience and a sanctuary for those
lost in rhythm.
Happy New Year! This year I welcomed 2016 with a 9 hour dance marathon at a sold out show at Pier 94 in New York City. Kiss the Sky warmed up the show and got everyone in party mood. Next up the man who has all the girls screaming known as Ansolo, worked in fun old dance tracks and ofcourse his mix of “Strong” by Arno Cost and Norman Doray that brought him up the charts in 2015:
Then, Travis Scott had the pleasure of ending his set with the celebration of a new year! Huge balloons poured from the ceiling of the pier, confetti blew through canons dispersing across the crowd where everyone screamed and continued to dance awaiting the next performer.
The Chainsmokers took the stage to also celebrate another happy occasion, Drew’s birthday! He was treated to an experience unique only to DJs, the whole crowd full of his fans sang to him happy birthday in the middle of their set!
For me the highlight of The Chainsmokers set was when they played my favorite hit “Roses” off their recent album.
Check out the rest of their album “Bouquet,” including tracks like “New York City,” “Until You Were Gone,” “Waterbed,” and “Good Intentions” and purchase if you’d like on iTunes HERE.
Last but not least the guy everyone waited for the entire night and made everyone dance as if they had not already been dancing for 6 hours. Nicky Romero played tracks like “Toulouse,” “Legacy” and many more of his huge hits roster. What an incredible way to start the new year and the perfect way to end the night.
Wishing you the best new year from We Own the Nite NYC! Party with us at next year’s Big Week NYC!
Capping off what has been yet another incredible year, Dutch superstar Nicky Romero will
be ringing in 2016 behind the decks at the iconic Pier 94 in New
York. The ultimate party to see in the new year, Nicky will be
performing alongside New Yorks; The Chainsmokers and Ansolo, and Houston native, Travis Scott to ensure a truly unforgettable night of celebrations! If you’ve never been to Pier 94. Its New York City’s largest pop-up concert venue, think
a super-size warehouse of 135,000 square ft.; a massive space for a
massive party. Located on the Hudson River, the venue features a dance
floor fit to hold over 5,000 partygoers and VIP spaces as well. Not only
that, the venue will be packed with world-class audio and visual
systems, art installations, dancers and performers. Produced by RPM
Presents, who boast an extensive list of show-stopping events in the
last year, mark your calendar for the most spectacular night that NYC
has to offer. It’s safe to say
that 2015 has been a huge year for Romero. From appearances at every
major festival across the globe, including Tomorrowland and EDC Vegas to
a sensational debut at Ultra Japan, not to mention his own sold out
Protocol label nights in Miami, London, Amsterdam to landing a residency
at OMNIA in Vegas, his live shows continue to prove why he is one of
the most sought after DJs. This year has brought on a new chapter in the
young star’s career. With his recent declaration of the artistic
struggles he has endured, his track ‘Lighthouse’, the first part in his
musical and visual trilogy, comes as an innovative turn creatively for
Romero; focusing on new music and new creative outputs Romero has called
this year an ‘amazing journey’. With such a revolutionary twelve months
for the Dutch star, it comes as no surprise he has decided to celebrate
the New Year at what will be the NYE event of 2015.
Set to make his New York debut headlining the famed Webster Hall on
Saturday,
November 28th, the mysterious KSHMR has been unleashed to the world and
he’s about to wreak havoc. An American born of Kashmiri-Indian descent,
KSHMR was raised watching Bollywood movies on Sundays and making
periodic family trips to his father’s homeland.
Though, it wasn’t until KSHMR began seeking inspiration for his own
musical productions that he realized the significance of his upbringing.
KSHMR reflects, “As I got older, I started to think about the people
and what I saw in India more and more – it’s been
hugely inspirational to starting KSHMR. Dance music is unique from pop
in that it allows you to use stranger melodies and chords. Indian music
does the same and it’s incredibly exciting to me to find ways to bridge
the two.”
Released only one week ago, Shaun Frank & KSHMR’s newest track
“Heaven” has made it to #1 on Beatport Pro’s “Top Ten” chart. Described
as “…an emotional track that transports listeners to those beautiful
summer days…”, electronic music fans will have their first chance to
hear it played live at NYC’s Webster Hall on November
28th. This is where the journey begins…
